The truth about being a mother...
I became a mother so quickly, I didn't have time to prepare anything. Next thing I knew, I was at the operating theatre, hearing my baby cry, the nurse place her on my chest and took her away to clean her and I was off to my room waiting for my little princess.
Alhamdullilah, when the nurses brought my princess in for me to breast feed her, she was able to latch on me. The first few nights at the hospital was tiring, greeting guests and feeding my princess every 3 hours. We had to stay in the hospital a bit longer because my princess had to be place at the special care for her jaundice.
After spending 6 days in the hospital, we finally was able to go home, home to my mother's to start my confinement. Such a scary feeling to be home, not knowing if I am able to care for this little princess without the help of the nurses. Being at home, was to tell you the truth, stressful. Having people telling me how to care for my princess left, right and centre and telling whatever I am doing is wrong.
First night of just us was scary, not knowing if my princess was comfortable, well fed and healthy. Was only able to sleep at most an hour every time my princess sleeps and making sure that I feed every 3 hours. It was hard to have some time alone to just bath or eat. Honestly, the first month of being a mother is HARD! I was lucky enough that my princess is kind of an easy baby. I don't know how other mothers do it when they have babies that can't stop crying or being very fussy. RESPECT!
The second came, not much different but it was easier as we knew what do to and what not do to. Still feeding my princess every 3 hours. The second month was quite a difficult month for us as something happened that made me cry and felt sooo alone.
Reaching the 3rd month we moved back to our tiny apartment. It was a tiring move as we had so much stuff to pack. Papa did most of the packing and unpacking. Going back a front preparing our home for my princess. So grateful for Papa. When we reached home, I felt that my princess knew we were home. She was happy and slept for 6 hours that night, giving mummy and papa a good night sleep. The next day, it was just the 3 of us and it was wonderful! My princess was happy and we were happy. After that night, my princess sleeps at for 6 to 7 hours every night. That's when my princess started to turn from her back to her tummy, a very big mile stone!
On the 3rd month, my princess started to poo once a week. The doctor has mentioned to us earlier that it is normal and we should not worry about it. One weeks worth of poo is A LOT!!! Took us by surprise on how much this tiny princess can poo. During this time, my princess start to smile a lot, cooing and make other noises. It so wonderful hearing my princess' voice in the morning, entertaining herself before we wake up to bathed her.
Now that we are coming to the fourth month, my princess is starting to babble. It's the cutest sound a parent could ever hear. And it is also when my princess is giggling. It lifts my spirit every time I hear it. Every baby is different, so I don't compare my princess with other babies her age. It will stress you out when you find if she hasn't done this or that.
Love being a mother and I can't wait for her other mile stones. Honestly, I miss being pregnant but being a mother for the first month was tiring and stressful. I can't wait for the next one but not just yet. I want to appreciate this time with my princess.
Till next time!
